The Accommodation

  • Two spacious bedrooms, both with ocean view and outside sliding doors; one with queen size bed and one with two three-quarter beds.

  • Both rooms with own en suite shower/toilet/basin.

  • Access to apartment by private staircase.

  • A separate shared lounge/kitchen with sliding door and ocean view.

  • Well equipped kitchen with refrigerator/deep freeze, dishwasher, gas stove plates, airfryer/oven, Nespresso coffee machine, kettle, toaster, etc.

  • Television in lounge (streaming only)

  • Free WiFi.

  • Due to access by steps unfortunately not wheelchair-friendly.

  • Outdoor private deck with ocean view and with table and chairs.

  • Weber braaier.

  • Linen on beds and bathroom-towels (not changed for stays shorter than a week)

  • Apart from refuse removal, no cleaning-service of rooms; only after departure.

  • Kindly note that no pets are allowed.

What to do in and around Jongensfontein

  • Whether you opt for tarmac or long distance circular routes mostly on gravel roads, or more adventurous single track routes in the nature reserve, there are ample reasons to bring the cycles along.

  • A small, safe beach, ideally suited for children, is centrally located in Jongensfontein, with life  savers on duty in high season. Or try the wonderful tidal pool in Jongensfontein, with safe parking, ablution facilities and areas for braaiing or picnicking. For the more adventurous, venture to the wide and long beaches of Still Bay, such as the popular Lappies Bay beach.

  • Jongensfontein offers unique and popular surfing conditions. Be sure to bring the surfboard or paddle board along.

  • Catch them from the rocks or the beaches, or adventure into the deep sea. Several charters available in the area to facilitate deep sea fishing.

  • Being on the doorstep of Jongensfontein Nature Reserve, you are in the midst of Birder’s paradise. Stay long enough to tick off the 170 birds on the bird list for this area.

  • From June to December, the majestic Southern Right Whales grace our waters. Not to forget the beautiful dolphins diving through the surf breaks. Watch this great spectacles from the comfort of your bed or the deck with a 180 degrees view of the ocean.

  • The Goukou river in Still Bay provides opportunity for a wide array of water sports, if you opt not to challenge the sea. Navigable inland for several kilometres upstream, you may wish to bring your rubberduck or canoe along. Or swim in the clean water, much warmer than the ocean.

The area offers a great array of different restaurants and food outlets. From fine dining to coffee shops, café’s, informal pub lunches and take-aways. Use your time to explore the variety. Some favourite spots that may provide a starting point are the following (in no order of preference):

  • This is a fine dining restaurant with an award-winning chef. In Still Bay West on the Goukou river. Telephone: 076 541 9867.

  • A modern sea-food restaurant with a light, seaside informal atmosphere. Probably the best sea-food around. Situated in the parking-area of Lappies bay beach, Still Bay East. Telephone: 021 065 1196

  • Two restaurants available: for lunch the mediterranean jewel on the olive farm Oudewerfskloof, with beautiful views over the Goukou River. Dinner at the in-town restaurant opposite the Spar supermarket. Telephone for both options: 084 850 3408

  • You will fall in love with this miniature deli in Jongensfontein. Good take-away coffee and what-not-else home baked mouth-watering delicatessens. A wide range of the best homemade pies.   • The informal no-nonsense beachside diner in Jongensfontein. From breakfast to dinner, and ice-cream softserve or milkshake in between. Enjoy a sunset drink on the upper deck, and don’t forget the convenience shop and off-sales next door. Telephone: 028 755 8110
